"If you can't convince them, confuse them!"
• Name :: Miater.
• Nickname(s) :: N/A.
• Birthday :: August 4th.
• Age :: Fourteen.
• Gender :: Female.
• Sexuality :: Straight.
• Physical Description :: Just bringing the onset of puberty, Miater is slowly gaining a woman's body and has developed curves and a small bust. Her skin is a pale like milk tea, her hair is a light, fallow brown, and her eyes a bright blue. She typically keeps her hair in low pigtails tied off with blue ribbons. Miater is always perpetually smiling and appears cheerful most of the time.
• Fashion :: Miater dons the unisex clothing of the water tribe, but with added attachments of her own (the translucent, bell-shaped sleeves and underskirt). The attire is slightly form fitting and hugs the body all the way up to her neck. A large medallion of polished amazonite sits in the middle of her bosom and is used to enhance her spell casting.
• Family :: Canters (father), Willater (mother), Bayters (older brother), Xanater (younger sister).
• Likes :: The color blue, the sound of the ocean, greasy foods, her family, lightening and thunder, water magic.
• Dislikes :: Yellow cabbage, sand, dead birds, failing a spell, sweet foods, Earth tribe members.
• Personality :: Miater is always perpetually smiling and faces the world with an optimistic view. Though partly from naivety, to the water mage there is much good in the world and it just needs to be found in people. Thus, she tends to interpret circumstances and events for their good outcomes even if there seems to be none. It is rare for her to get depressed and, when she is, the unhappiness passes to a few hours to a few days at most. While she does not advocate for hate either, she believes firmly in the stigma surrounding the earth tribe and has an intense fear of them.
Miater is very punctual and does not stand for tardiness. She is known to show up even hours before an appointment to make sure she would not be late. To her, being late hinders business and the water mage is the type to get things done and over with. Miater has become the bane of her master's soul because of her want to have him become more caring with time. This virtue of her hers clashes greatly with him flaw and the two at their wits' end trying to come to consensus when it comes to assignment deadlines.
Miater is very finicky and has a hard time being content with something. She picks at little things and fusses over the details until whatever it is she is working on fits her acceptance. Unfortunately, it takes a lot of effort to ever please her and most throw their hands up in frustration trying to do so. To Miater, allowing deviation from a standard only leads to failure. By remaining rigidly accurate, a person is more inclined to find success and, thus, happiness. She tends to frown upon those rebellious souls who try to think outside the box because she believes they are walking the fine line between future success and sorrow.
As stated before, despite advocating for happiness to rule one's life and for hate to diminish, Miater truly believes in the stereotype surrounding the earth tribe. For years, this sect of the elemental groups of people has had their name dragged through the mud despite history spreading the blame equally. Due to this, the tribe has become very taciturn with interaction from the other three. Miater fears the tribe despite knowing little about them and sees them as the enemy of the water tribe because of what she was told as a child.
• Background :: In the world of Temelar, the world's people are split between tribes based on the elemental four. Miater is a middle child from the water tribe. She is currently a mage in training and looks up to her mentor, Aters, for tutelage, but their relationship is strained because of clashing personalities. She has only been in training for a year and, while many had high hopes for her because her father was a great caster, Miater has shown to have an average level of control over water.
At fourteen, a group of volunteers agreed to be ambassadors to the earth tribe so they could barter and hopefully lessen the stigma between the two tribes. Without her consent, Aters signed up Miater to go so her fear surrounding the tribe could diminish. Despite her many protests, the mage in training ended up going with the volunteers. When they arrived in the territory of the earth people, the fourteen year old was full of fear. Miater would not interact with anyone nor even make eye contact.
When constantly asking the volunteers when they'd go home only to get a vague reply, Miater grew fed up and kept herself to the tent for the remainder of their time there. One day, while she was dressing, a boy slipped into the tent shivering and panting. In fright, she bashed him over the head and knocked him out. Tying him up, she awaited him to wake up to interrogate him and wonder what the earth tribe boy wanted to do to her.
However, after seeing that he had black eyes, Miater found out he was a mixed breed. After an intense questioning, she found out that his name was Ferth and an orphan who had stole a orange to feed himself. He escaped into the tent because to get guards off of his trail. Despite her fear of him, Miater allowed him to stay as long as he did not make any move to hurt her; then she would immediately call for a guard. During the time she was with him, they began to form a friendship, and Miater's perception toward the earth tribe began to change.
• Trivia :: In Miater's world, people are named using the suffix of the elemental tribe they're in. For example, members of the water tribe always end their name in -ter (except males, which use -ters), the fire tribe use -re, the earth use -th, and the wind tribe -nd.
One can identify what tribe an individual is in by their eye color. For example, like Miater, all members of the water tribe have blue eyes, fire tribe members have orange or red eyes, earth tribe people have brown or green eyes, and the wind tribe is strictly gray. Children born from members of two different tribes are always born with black eyes.
Despite being friends, the two have come up with petty nicknames for each other. When Miater is upset with Ferth, she calls him "Fart" and, likewise, he calls her "Miaturd."
