• Fashion :: Hide always looks presentable and his clothing reflects this part of his nature. His top is a high-necked piece that accentuates his form without fitting to it. It falls as long as a trench to his knee with one half of the flaps folded over and buttoned to the hip. About his arms, there are bandages as a safety precaution to prevent blisters from lifting things. His pants are loose and are tucked into thigh-high boots with a chunky heel.
• Family :: Sana (mother), Hiroshi (father), unnamed siblings, Rinko (younger sister).
• Likes :: Quietness, being in the company of the troupe, working, his little sister, Rinko, fire bending, men, cute things.
• Dislikes :: Confrontation, getting riled up, those who speak ill of the troupe, his parents, getting dirt on his clothes, those who can see through his ruse.
• Personality ::
Hide comes off as a tough guy; someone who would sweep the streets with anyone or anything that crosses him the wrong way. His brash exterior is upheld by a strong physique and a stiff face that doesn't reflect much but great disdain for the world and its things. Unfortunately, all of this is more of a forced facade. In actuality, Hide is a big romantic with a softness for cute animals, picking flowers, and tearing up at sorrowful scenes in plays. Unfortunately, because the male is a bit of a people pleaser and doesn't like to draw attention to himself, he tries to live up to the expectation he's supposed to be this big, macho guy who is angry one-hundred and twenty percent of the time. This can be a bit taxing on him as he is a terrible actor and sometimes his true persona slips through. For example, he may make googly eyes at a cat owl because he finds them so endearing.
Hide doesn't converse much. Well, he doesn't talk at all. He's as silent as a still night and, save for a few hums or grunts, never opens his mouth to part words or pleasantries. It's not because he's trying to be rude, he's just a bit inhibited, and going back to the aforementioned fact he's keeping up with what most people may see him as, it helps his "tough guy" exterior. He's very open and expressive with his thoughts though and may extend a congratulations or well wishes to anyone that he believes deserves it or even gush about something adorable internally. He's not beyond writing his thoughts down either; doesn't help that he has almost illegible penmanship, though.
But beyond what walls he forcefully tries to keep from crumbling, Hide's a pretty swell guy. He has very little tolerance with disrespect to others who cross the members of the troupe the wrong way and is known to get into the nitty-gritty of things and make his feelings known; words of not. Likewise, he treats the troupe as his family since, well, they practically the closest thing to one he's had in his life. He's willing to sacrifice whatever to keep them going and will follow along in their wake as they continue to accept him unconditionally.
Despite his somewhat brash appearance, Hide prides himself in his personal hygiene. He is always clean shaven with combed locks and a pristine suit of clothes every time he is seen. Unfortunately, his job calls for much muscle strain, sweat, and dirtiness. He usually looks disheveled at the end of the day and covered in whatever grime he was to scrub or much through. Due to this, his annoyance is known to waver, but he doesn't get outright mad. Instead, he turns fussy, and finds a need to right the wrongs of himself as soon as possible. Cleanliness of oneself is definitely one of his biggest desires in a person, though, and he is known to trust someone more if they are presentable in appearance.
• Background ::
Hide was the fourth son of Sana and Hiroshi Moto. His parents showered respect and love to the oldest and affection deteriorated the longer they went down the line. Since he was a son, he had his uses to the family, but for care, Hide did not earn much love from either of them. He found attention in his younger sister and the sixth child, Rinko. Despite her obviously striking beauty that was inherited from their mother, the youngest Moto was severely impaired because she was born with no arms; simply two slender members that hooked halfway from her shoulders. Her parents hid her from the world, ashamed at a child that should not be at fault. Like an animal enclosed in a cage, she was trapped to the confines of her own room in her own corner of the house and neither Hide or his other siblings were allowed to converse with her.
Hide broke the rule when it was his turn to take a meal to her. At the tender age of ten, his curiosity got the better of him, and he happened to question her appearance. Rinko admitted she didn't know the answer, but also added Hide should come back when she finally did come up with one. Of course, she never did, but Hide returned time and time again searching for it. Eventually, this caused them to grow inseparable, and the male sought her out on more than one occasion; not just when he had to bring her dinner in the evenings.
One unfortunate day, Rinko begged Hide to take her outside. It was nearing the week where the petals would fall from the trees like flecks of snow from the heavens and, just once in her life, the girl wanted to see it. Despite his warnings and reservations towards the idea, Hide was determined to show his sister a sight to behold, and sneaked her out of her room in the cover of night to show her a grand view of the petals atop the tallest shop nearest their home. Piggybacking her to there, the two siblings watched the petals dance in the wind until early dawn set in and they had to return home. Yet, as Hide climbed with the weight of his sister on him, his foot crashed through the roof of the shop they were upon, and inside the two landed; destroying a plethora of goods inside. When they were apprehended, Hide and Rinko were returned to their parents, and as Sana and Hiroshi apologized profusely to the owner of the store for their children's disobedience and their decision to pay for everything destroyed, that's when the two knew they were in big trouble.
As a consequence for their actions, Hide was kicked from his home and Rinko was to given to any man willing to take her as his wife. Hide tried his best to vouch for his sister, but his attempts came to no avail; Sana and Hiroshi threatened to call the authorities on him if he ever pressed the issue. Essentially, he was nothing to them now. The male wandered for some time, working any jobs that came his way. As he built up strength from the numerous heavy lifting he did, his personality sort of fell to the wayside, and he aged to be rather quiet amongst others. His usefulness happened to catch the eye of a member of the troupe looking for an extra hand and Hide agreed under the promise of food and money. Since then, he's been traveling with the troupe as a background man. He takes care of all of the labor not associated with entertainment; painting backgrounds, providing care to the performance animals, keeping costumes in order, and so on. Despite all of the time he's been with the troupe, he hasn't been candid about his past or why he chose to stay. But it doesn't take a train eye to see that everyone there means a lot more than they think to him.
